Copyright violation is not “theft”, it is breaching a government mandated monopoly. It is morally equivalent to using Skype in a country where the government has granted one operator a monopoly on telecommunications.

I suppose that’s true. But much the same as Martin Luther King writes in “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”, if you /are/ going to “[breach the] government mandated monopoly”, you have to be willing to pay the penalties for your actions…
